US Senators, US Representatives, 100s of Organizations, Professional Associations and Labor Unions Call For President Biden to Publish The Equal Rights Amendment

Updated: 1 day ago

For the past 3.5 years, Shattering Glass has been leading the efforts to ensure the Equal Rights Amendment is published as the 28th Amendment of the Constitution. In addition to meetings with the White House, we have been working closely with Senator Gillibrand, Congresswoman Bush, and the Senate Judiciary Committee to make that a reality.

And we have been educating elected officials, social justice organizations, medical, legal and other professionals, unions, and the public on the need for ERA publication. As a result, we have built a diverse alliance of partners who, in the past month, are calling for publication of the ERA.

In addition to a massive grassroots effort, the recent calls for President Biden to take immediate action to certify and publish the ERA include the following letters to President Biden:

All of this is in addition to recent statements by major legal and medical professional associations, reproductive justice organizations, and abortion funds, urging the immediate publication of the Equal Rights Amendment, including:

  • The December 24th Statement from the New York City Bar Association, which responds to and denounces the Archivist's recent statement and provides "President Biden has the authority, the responsibility, and the opportunity to direct that the Equal Rights Amendment be certified and published as the 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The New York City Bar Association calls on the President to do so now – before it is too late."

  • The November 15th Statement from Shattering Glass and its partners in the Reproductive Health Coalition, a wide-range of health professional associations and reproductive justice and other allied organizations, urging President Biden to publish the ERA "to address the current healthcare crisis, guarantee equality and bodily autonomy, and stop the further rollback of fundamental rights, which is certain to ensue without the Equal Rights Amendment." For additional information, see our Press Release HERE.

  • The October 9th Statement of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and other leading fertility and OB/GYN associations urging "[the Biden/Harris] administration to do everything in their power to finalize the Equal Rights Amendment so that the promise of equal rights under the law, including the right to access comprehensive reproductive health care such as abortion, may be realized." For additional information, see our Press Release HERE.

  • The August 6th Resolution and Report from the American Bar Association urging the immediate publication/implimentation of the ERA and warning that, without the ERA, 14th Amendment sex-based equal protection is "in grave peril." For additional information, see our Press Release HERE.

As reflected in the December 11th polling from Data For Progress, 61% of Americans support ERA publication, and President Biden's net approval rating soars if he directs the Archivist to publish the ERA. Yet he still needs convincing.

We have incredible momentum, but we need your help. Please visit www.BidenPublishTheERA.org and take action today! It only takes minutes.
